For Our Troops!!

September 21, 2005 a 2006 Jeep Commander dove 1,200 feet from the sky. This event marked the arrival of the vehicle to dealerships across the nation. Along with this it kicked off a holiday donation drive for Operation Gratitude.

Jeep dealerships across the country are accepting donations and letters of appreciation to American soldiers around the world. They are hoping to reach their goal of sending 30,000 care packages to troops this holiday season. For a list of donations please take a look at www.OperationGratitude.com

Being a combat veteran myself I understand the need for soldiers to receive support not only from friends and family, but just about ANYONE. There are troops over there that do not have a support chain in their lives. It can be very lonely over there, especially during the holidays. Please show your support and appreciation for a soldier.

My father is a combat vet, he did three tours of Vietnam. I remember when I was deployed for Desert Storm my father was worried about many things, one of those were the reactions of people back in the states. As we know when soldiers came back from Vietnam they were not supported by many Americans. Fortunately views have changed, and people do see the need to support the soldiers no matter how they personally feel about the war itself. I remember when I first came back into country after Desert Storm, we had a layover in New York and they allowed us to get off the plane. When we walked off the plane it was extremely touching how everyone cheered and supported us. These were not our family members, they were just total strangers. That kind of support really means a lot. These soldiers have seen a lot and been through some terrible things, they deserve all the support we can give them.
